FBI Tips on Preventing Child Identity Theft

Child identity theft puts US children at a disadvantage and hurts their chances to get into college, get their first job or use credit for the first time. Children are being denied their future. The FBI's Cybercrime Division noted a recent study showed one child in every classroom already has someone using their social security number for abuses ranging from credit cards, home loans, utilities, and employment. 12% of the victims were under the age of 5 and the average debt per victim was $12,000.
